Tea from Tokyo, Sayama-cha
Conventional wisdom says that Shizuoka tea excels in color, Ugi tea is rich in flavor, and Sayama tops the list of tasty teas.

We recommend Motohien, located at the southern foot of Sayama Hills in the vicinity of Tokyo.

Sayama and adjacent areas are the production center for Tokyo Sayama teas. Sayama-cha usually refers to tea leaves produced in the Sayama district of Saitama Prefecture (in Iruma-shi, Sayama-shi and adjacent areas).
In the traditional meaning, however, Sayama-cha is said to have originated in Musashi-kawagoe (known today as Kawagoe), then later the production zone was expanded to include the entire Tokyo metropolitan area. While the Sayama Hills encompass part of Saitama Prefecture and the Tokyo metropolitan area, the tea leaves produced in the area centered around Sayama Hills of Tokyo are now called Tokyo-Sayama-cha and are distinct from the Sayama-cha blends produced in Saitama Prefecture.

Although tea leaves are produced in various parts of Japan, the climate of the Sayama area north of Tokyo colder, providing an environment suitable for growing thick, soft tea leaves and producing teas that feature rich flavor and full-bodied taste.

The poles in this picture that look like windmills or big fans are frost wind machines.
They protect tea leaves against the frost, especially when there is a late frost after spring arrives.
